Palm Springs Brides love the non-traditional “Sweet Notions”

The wedding cake is undoubtedly one of the favorite parts of one's wedding for the couple and guests alike. It is not only ceremonial, but also come with a great deal of pressure regarding the decoration and, most importantly taste. These days, at Tommy Bahama, we are seeing some non-traditional trends that are very exciting.
One trend that is a variation of the traditional wedding cake, is a mini dessert station. We have created mini dessert stations for Wedding Receptions as well as Rehearsal Dinners and they are always well-received because guests have a choice of several selections to satisfy their sweet tooth. Some of our mini desserts that we offer are our Pina Colada Cake Bites, Key Lime Tartlets, Butterscotch Chocolate Cups & Triple Chocolate Cake Bites. We present them on a mirrored table with applicable decor and they are dainty two-bite morsels of delectable goodness! All of our mini desserts are replicas of their full-sized counterparts.
Another request we get quite often is that brides want to order our Pina Colada Cake for their wedding cake. It is a guest favorite in the restaurant & obviously is top of mind for brides that have dined here before, when looking for something different. Our Pina Colada Cake is made by spraying several layers of white cake with Myers Dark Rum and filling between the layers with crushed pineapple and white chocolate mousse. The cake is frosted with the same mousse and sprinkled with Toasted Coconut. So, it still has the traditional color of white, but is a moist, delicious alternative.

We also see a lot of the ever-popular candy stations, but one Bride did it a little differently. She only offered six candies; the favorites of the Bride and Groom and each of their parents. We created signage to indicate the reason that each candy was chosen, and it was more meaningful than the run-of-the-mill candy station.
Brides are always looking for creative ways to satisfy their guests' sweet tooth. From traditional wedding cakes, to mini dessert stations, to candy bars, I say we keep trying them all and NEVER come up with just one answer!
